Staff Pharmacist – Hospital

Location: Zachary, LA

Specialty Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced Staff Pharmacist for a full-time inpatient hospital opportunity in Zachary, LA. This position offers a minimum 90-day assignment with the possibility of extension or permanent placement. We are looking for a pharmacist with strong inpatient experience who can support daily hospital pharmacy operations, including medication management and sterile compounding.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: ASAP

• Duration: Minimum 90 days, with potential for extension or permanent placement

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, with varying shifts and days

• Shift Hours: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 12:30 PM–9:00 PM

• Weekend Coverage: Required on a rotating schedule

• On-Call: Rotating coverage, approximately 5–7 days per month

• Setting: Inpatient hospital pharmacy

• Order Entry System: Epic, training available

• Orientation: One day, with additional training based on experience

Requirements

• Active Louisiana Pharmacist license in good standing

• Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required

• Sterile compounding experience preferred

• Experience with Epic EMR preferred, but training is available

• Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and rotating on-call schedules

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient pharmacy services and support daily hospital pharmacy operations

• Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, safety and appropriateness

• Prepare and compound sterile IV medications as needed

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to support patient care

• Manage medication dispensing and inventory using Pyxis systems

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable pharmacy regulations

• Work alongside pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient medication distribution

• Participate in rotating weekend and on-call coverage
