Director of Pharmacy – Behavioral Health Hospital

Specialty Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy for a full-time opportunity in Sacramento, CA. This position involves overseeing pharmacy operations across two behavioral health facilities, including staff management, scheduling, regulatory compliance and daily pharmacy services.

We are looking for a pharmacist with strong leadership experience who can maintain efficient pharmacy operations and ensure continuity of care across both locations.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: ASAP

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

• Pharmacy Hours: 7:30 AM–7:00 PM

• On-Call: Required when the pharmacy is closed

• Weekend Coverage: May be required, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM

• Setting: Behavioral Health, overseeing two facilities

• Order Entry System: HCS, training provided

• Training: Provided prior to starting

Requirements

• Active California Pharmacist license in good standing

• Pharmacy management or leadership experience required

• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred, but candidates with strong management skills will be considered

• Behavioral health pharmacy experience preferred

• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to oversee pharmacy operations and staffing across two facilities

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and hospital pharmacy standards

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations across two behavioral health facilities

• Manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

• Coordinate scheduling and ensure adequate staffing coverage at both locations

• Provide direct pharmacist coverage as needed

• Participate in hospital committees and interdisciplinary meetings

• Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations and accreditation standards

• Support medication safety, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives

• Ensure continuity of pharmacy services and effective communication between both facilities

• Provide on-call and occasional weekend coverage as required
