Interim Hospital Pharmacy Technician – Gallup, NM

Location: Gallup, NM 87301
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Interim assignment until permanent placement

Job Overview

Specialty Medical Staffing has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interim Hospital Pharmacy Technician at a critical access hospital in Gallup, NM. This position is ideal for a pharmacy technician with inpatient hospital experience, strong IV skills, and proficiency with Pyxis automated dispensing systems.

The assignment offers full-time hours with rotating weekend coverage. Local candidates are preferred, although travel candidates may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet refills and medication inventory.

• Monitor medication expiration dates and perform routine unit inspections.

• Fill and check medication stock for three affiliated clinics.

• Assist with IV medication preparation and pharmacy operations as needed.

• Enter and manage medication purchasing orders.

• Reconcile pharmacy charges and investigate billing discrepancies.

• Support 340B audits and compliance processes.

• Identify and reconcile medication coding variances.

• Order pharmacy supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

• Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.

Requirements

• Active New Mexico Pharmacy Technician License required.

• Minimum 1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required.

• IV experience required.

• Pyxis experience required.

• Sterile products certification required.

• BLS certification required.

• Experience with Cerner preferred.

• Familiarity with medication inventory management, purchasing, and 340B processes preferred.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work a rotating schedule, including every other weekend..
