Job Overview
Specialty Medical Staffing has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interim Hospital Pharmacist at a critical access hospital in Gallup, NM. This position is ideal for a pharmacist with inpatient hospital experience, strong clinical knowledge, and proficiency in IV medication preparation and management.
This assignment offers a full-time schedule with rotating weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities. The initial duration is at least three months, with a possibility of extension.
Responsibilities

Review and verify medication orders through computerized physician order entry (CPOE).

Process and dispense medications, including controlled substances.

Oversee pharmacy technicians and verify their work.

Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings.

Manage vancomycin dosing and monitor medications requiring renal or hepatic dose adjustments.

Support IV medication preparation and sterile compounding practices.

Provide purchasing oversight using Cardinal Order Express.

Maintain compliance with hospital pharmacy policies and applicable regulations.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective medication therapy.
Requirements
-
Active New Mexico pharmacist license required.

PharmD or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.

IV experience required.

Sterile products certification required.

BLS certification required.

Experience with Cerner and Pyxis preferred.

Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Ability to work rotating weekends and participate in an on-call schedule.
