Duty:
Under direction supervision of a physician or supervising nurse, and in accordance with current standards of practice, functions as a responsible licensed member of a health care team, primarily as the nurse for the assigned area.

Tasks include:
  • Direct and supervise the care given by nursing personnel in the assigned area. Coordinate assignment of staff to residents, provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs.
  • Plans, oversees, and evaluates work.
  • Assists the physician with physical examinations, techniques, and procedures
  • Holds sick call and examines residents to determine their need for medical care.
  • Responsible for the completion of medication administration, and treatment completion as order by the prescribing health care professional, for transcription of orders, documentation, formulation and updating of plans of care for the resident, on an individualized basis.
  • Oversees the administration of medications such as tranquilizers, anti-seizure medications, immunizations, vitamins, antibiotics in several ways such as: topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and intravenously as directed by a physician; assures that patient and medication records are properly posted and maintained by subordinates
  • Passing medications or administers medications and treatments for members unable to do their own or monitors self-pour medications of residents.  Keep residents functioning at their highest level of functioning possible.
  • Coordinates communication and Unit Activities between the physician, social worker, psychologists, RN3’s, and NACs concerning nursing care and agency policies to promote twenty-four-hour continuity of care.  
  • Collaborate with other members of the health care team to develop individual care plans for residents. Maintain open communication between the health team members to assure continual application of the nursing process in an ongoing manner.
  • Makes nursing assessments of residents as necessitated by the condition of the resident, and on a quarterly basis for the completion of the minimum data set (MDS). To includes diagnostic procedures i.e. blood pressures,  apical/radial pulses and blood glucose monitoring in accordance with current policy and procedures.
  • Provides shift supervision with pertinent updates for staffing requirements or other needs.
  • Makes rounds on a regular basis to ensure compliance with expectations of the unit.
  • Assume responsibility for self-development by awareness of new techniques and medications.
  • Supervision of assigned staff: Completion of Performance Development Plans, monitoring attendance and performance, coaching, provide counseling and guidance, learning experience, and evaluates performance of subordinate personnel
Required Qualifications:
A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
Must have ability to speak, read and write in English language for medical charts.
                                                                             AND
One (1) year of professional nursing experience                                                        
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Long term care experience.
Articulate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care; personal hygiene and sanitation methods, record keeping, report preparation, infection control procedures and resident rights.
Experience in assessing, evaluating, and participating in the development of appropriate plans of care. Plan, implement, and document appropriate discharge planning for residents when appropriate. Perform selected nursing procedures.
