Nurse Manager (RN)- Preop/PACU  - Permanent Role

Specialty Medical Staffing has an exciting new direct hire opportunity for a Nurse Manager (RN)- Preop/PACU in Greenvale, NY!  If you are a highly competent OR RN/Nurse Manager looking for something more than what you have seen in the past, we would love to connect with you. Salary Range: $115,000 - $118,000
Hours: Monday-Friday, day shift, occasionally one Saturday per month, no major holidays.
Sign-on Bonus: $3,500
Physical Setting: Outpatient Standard - Specialties include: Orthopedics, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Joint Replacement, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Podiatry and Pain Management
Experience: 
- Must have at least 1 year of leadership experience
- -5 years Surgical Services experience at an outpatient ASC preferred 


Main Function: Under the direction of Clinical Director of Nursing the Nurse Manager has responsibility during periods of delegation by the Clinical Director, for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the center and their effect on patient care. In the absence of the Clinical Director of Nursing, has authority to make decisions in the center in the areas of patient care, human resource and clinical financial management.

Duties, Responsibilities, Competencies: *This job description is to be used in conjunction with the primary area of nursing the individual will be working (Pre-Op, Post-Op, OR, etc). Serving as the Nurse Manager the individual will also have these additional responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates the ability to communicate the center's mission, vision and values, as well as center goals, to all staff.
2. Provides supervision, leadership, and guidance to other leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, outcome achievement, and promotion of team cohesion.
3. Demonstrates staffing accountability through planning, assigning, directing work of subordinate staff, including training, and appraising performance in conjunction with the DON.
4. Supports the DON in the evaluation of performance objectives and metrics for the center and assesses the level of competence of staff in a timely manner.
5. Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling the desired behaviors and encouraging those in others including through rewarding and disciplining direct reports and addressing complaints and resolving problems
6. Demonstrates the ability to cope with, and manage change effectively, as well as help others do the same.
7. May at time be required to collaborate with other centers to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact center/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery.
8. Supports the DON in demonstrating fiscal accountability for center resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources.
9. Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and/or other center functions.
10. Effectively participates in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), Infection Control, Safety, Medication Management programs and committees as assigned.
11. Appropriately documents all requested reports for benchmarking, scorecards, and meeting minutes in a timely manner
12. Maintain budget items assigned by leadership: Hours I case, pharmaceutical expenses, and any other assigned area

Requirements
1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing- Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing
2. RN with active license in NY
3. BLS/ACLS certification, PALS preferred
4. Evidence of leadership qualities
5. Strong ethical and moral character references
6. Language skills: adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
7. Math Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
8. Computer literacy including: email, spreadsheet, word processing,
9. Must be able to work variable hours and flex with the surgical schedule and staffing needs
Preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains current knowledge of infection control standards and practices AORN, APIC, AAMI, CDC, OSHA
- Maintains membership in AORN and other professional organizations at the direction of facility leadership team
- Collaboratively coordinates Infection Control Program with members of the healthcare team o Reviews and updates policies and procedures related to Infection Control as needed
- Coordinates, collects, analyzes and presents infection control data from various surveillance activities
o Environment of care, hand hygiene, and safe injection practices
o Patient and staff infection rates
o Investigates post-operative/post-procedure infections
- Assists in the development of action plans to address issues and trends identified
- Provides education regarding infection control per regulatory and state requirements, policies and procedures, and the ongoing identified needs and requirements for Center personnel and medical staff
- Ensures appropriate management and follow-up of employee occupational exposures following OSHA regulations and Center policies and procedures
- Coordinates annual safer medical devices evaluation per OSHA requirements
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to complete annual TB screening, and Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination statuses; appropriately document employee evaluation and follow up (as required)
- Ensures compliance with Center Infection Control policies and procedures within the healthcare team
- Actively attends annual education event on infection control
- Performs annual Infection Control Risk Assessment to determine goals for the year, reviews efficacy of Infection Control program annually
- Performs annual TB Risk Assessment to determine Center's risk level; addresses any necessary policy and procedure changes with QAPI, MEC, and GB
- Completes annual CMS IC Worksheet to assess overall regulatory compliance
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
